Basketball attendance/atmosphere

Was curious how your fans feel about playing on campus now that the novelty period has worn off. 

-Do you think the game atmosphere is better?
-Has the student awareness/participation grown?
-Has the casual fan turned away due to being in a lesser arena and not Rabobank?

There is a general conversation about league attendance going on in the Bigwest forums, and someone mentioned Bakersfield's attendance. Seems the number was lower compared to when you were D2 or transitioning to D1 and playing in Rabobank. It was pretty well known the push was to be Big West and your attendance was often cited as being middle of the road with occassional 4k plus games in Rabobank.

Hi "LB Fan." Wow...might be a first...a BW fan on our forum. LOL. JK.....kind of.
Sorry for the long delay. We just got home from the coast a bit earlier tonight.

As far as the attendance comparing Robobank and the Icardo Center is concerned, this is what I'm hearing....in general. Im understanding more students like the Icardo due to it being an on-campus venue. Robobank ( it will always be the Centennial Garden to me personally) is downtown and then requires parking, which also costs. Secondly, the Robobank turned out to be too many empty seats and nobody liked seeing tons of empties. I believe the thinking is that, the Robobank will be there if/when its needed. (The Robobank also hosts the Condors, which are VERY popular, plus other misc events). Thus, scheduling was complicated (at least a bit) with those factored in. The Icardo is basically JUST CSUB use only (MBB, WBB and WVB).

Personally, I live closer to the campus and like the Icardo...at this point.

I think as far as attendance goes, the winning % must increase. I DO see it happening but slower than my liking. I DO think recent success in baseball will help. Since the switch, IMO...MBB has been generally disappointing. Some on the WAC Board seem to think CSUB will be the #2 team this year there. I remain unconvinced, as we've failed to hit expectations very recently, with the talent we have. So...we shall see. THAT may also be a big determiner in attendance.

Attendance depends entirely on the product....The product has not been good.
